A 2-leg round robin over 3 games is 3 separate parlays, not one bet with a cushion. At $5.00 a ticket you are laying $15.00, and one wrong game kills 2 of the 3. Every ticket here covers that $15.00 on its own, so one survivor gets the whole outlay back.
A round robin is the safe version of a parlay. If a leg misses I'm still covered.

What you are actually betting
The count is C(n, k) = n! / (k! × (n − k)!) — every group of 2 you can draw from 3 games. Add one more game and the count jumps rather than steps, and the money on the counter jumps with it.
What one wrong game does
That is the real trade. One parlay across all 3 games would be dead the moment a single one missed; here some tickets die and some live. What it costs is laying 3 stakes instead of one, with the book's fee sitting inside every leg of every ticket.

Every sub-parlay here multiplies its legs as though they were independent, and each leg carries the book's fee — a round robin pays that fee on the same games over and over, once inside every ticket it buys. Spreading the same opinions across more tickets changes the shape of the outcome, not the price of the games underneath it. If those prices are poor, buying more of them at once does not fix that.
